Scientists Check the Top of Kīlauea Volcano

On September 18, 2026, scientists from the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory flew over the Kīlauea volcano. This was a monitoring flight over the summit of the volcano. The team looked closely at the Halemaʻumaʻu crater. The researchers saw that no lava flows had been active there during the previous day.
