In mid-September 2026, two olive ridley sea turtle nests were found in California. They were near Huntington Beach and the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. This was the first confirmed natural nesting on the West Coast of the United States. Experts concluded that two separate turtles had laid the nests. The species usually nests further south in Mexico.
